Aurecon provided total engineering services for the Western Grandstand Redevelopment comprising the partial demolition and reconstruction of the existing heritage listed western members’ grandstand into a 14,000 seat grandstand.
Working closely with the South Australian Cricket Association and the consultant team, Aurecon delivered:
Importantly, the heritage elements were successfully conserved and interwoven with the modern design features.
The new iconic grandstand opened for the 2010 Ashes Second Test Match to rave reviews from the media, public and members alike with the feature grandstand roof capturing everyone’s imagination.
Aurecon has received awards throughout 2011 for its work on the redevelopment. Award wins include a silver award in the Building (non-residential) category at the Consult Australia Awards of Excellence, an excellence award in Large Structures presented by the Lightweight Structures Association of Australasia, and the Malcolm Kinnaird Award from Engineers Australia’s South Australia Division.
